Our Current Program: "Obama In China"
US President Barack Obama travelled to Asia this month, including a three-day trip to China.
Chinese President Hu Jintao pressed Mr. Obama on issues of trade and economics. Mr. Obama asked for China's help in a number of areas. In economics, the US is looking for China to adjust the value of its currency. When it comes to security issues, the US was hoping for China to use its leverage with North Korea and Iran to block nuclear proliferation. But President Obama emphasized that US-China relations are based on broadly shared interests, and would not be affected by disagreements on any specific issues.
Did President Obama achieve what he wanted in his visit to China? And how are US-Chinese relations evolving? We answer these questions and more on this edition of On The Line.
