Police say a biology professor at a southern U.S. university has been charged with murder for allegedly killing three fellow professors Friday.
Authorities say three others were wounded when Amy Bishop opened fire in a science building on the University of Alabama at Huntsville campus during a faculty meeting.
Bishop could face the death penalty, if convicted.
A university spokesman says police are also questioning a second person in custody in connection with the shooting. The local newspaper, The Huntsville Times, reported the second person was Bishop's husband.
The school closed the campus after the shooting. A message posted on the university's Web site said no students were involved in the incident.
A local television station reported the shooting occurred after Bishop learned during the meeting that she would not be granted tenure, which would have ensured her future employment as a professor.
