At Least 7 Killed in Iraq Attacks

At least seven people have died in a series of attacks in Iraq, including three killed when a car bomb exploded in a Baghdad shopping area.

The blast in Baghdad's western Mansour district Monday left at least nine others wounded.

In northern Baghdad, one person was killed and at least six others wounded when a bomb placed on a mini-bus detonated in the predominantly Shiite district of Sadr City.

West of the capital near the town of Abu Ghraib, attackers shot and killed a father and two of his sons at their home. Officials say the man was a member of the anti-insurgent Sunni fighters known as the Sons of Iraq.

Also Monday, Iraqi authorities said insurgents launched attacks on the homes of police officers in Iraq's western Anbar province, wounding at least 18 people.

There has been a surge of violence in Iraq since the country's March parliamentary elections that yielded no clear winner. Iraqi officials say a spate of bomb attacks killed at least five people in the capital area Sunday.

Some information for this report was provided by AP, AFP and Reuters.
