Italian Newspapers Release Alleged Tapes of Berlusconi and Call Girl

Another scandal involving Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi surfaced Monday when two newspapers released tapes on their websites of alleged conversations between Mr. Berlusconi and a prostitute.

A voice that L'Espresso and La Repubblica say is Mr. Berlusconi's asks a woman identified as call girl Patrizia D'Addario to wait for him in bed while he showers.

The websites also feature alleged telephone calls between the two.

The prime minister's lawyer says the tapes are totally implausible and a product of the imagination.

D'Addario is at the center of an investigation involving a businessman accused of paying young women to attend parties at Mr. Berlusconi's residences.

Earlier this year, Mr. Berlusconi fiercely denied reports that he had an affair with a teenage model.

She was allegedly seen among several other girls wearing bathing suits at a New Year's party at Mr. Belusconi's villa on Sardinia.

Mr. Berlusconi's wife has filed for divorce.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters.
