Roadside Bomb in Iraq Kills 3

The U.S. military says three people, including an American soldier, have been killed in a roadside bombing on a U.S. convoy near the Iraqi city of Fallujah.

Military officials say an employee of the U.S. State Department and of the U.S. Defense Department were also killed in Monday's blast.  The Associated Press reports all three were U.S. citizens.

The military says at the time of the blast, the convoy was carrying U.S. government employees and civilian contractors to a construction site near Fallujah.

The attack came one day after the U.S. military announced the number of major attacks in Iraq have fallen about 50 percent in the past month.

The military said Monday's bombing in Fallujah was the 14th attack involving multiple casualties  this month.  There were 28 in all of April.

U.S. forces in Iraq have pulled out of Fallujah and are planning to pull out of all Iraqi cities by the end of June.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP, AP and Reuters.
