NATO officials in Afghanistan say four coalition soldiers have been wounded in a bomb blast targeting a military convoy in the eastern part of the country.
NATO's International Security Assistance force says the attack took place Saturday in Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province.
Provincial officials, however, say an ISAF soldier was killed in an explosion triggered by a suicide car bomber. ISAF officials did not confirm the casualty.
In western Afghanistan, government officials say Afghan security forces killed a number of insurgents during a two-day operation in Farah province.
And U.S.-led coalition officials say Afghan and U.S. troops killed several militants in the Nahri Sarraj District of southern Helmand province on Thursday.
Separately Saturday, the German Foreign Ministry confirmed U.S. military officials have released a German citizen, who was detained in January for being on a U.S. base without authorization.
Gholam Ghaus, a German of Afghan origin, was being held at the U.S. military base in Bagram. Officials say Ghaus was freed today after German intelligence officers concluded he was not a terrorist.
