Germany's Martin Kaymer has fired a 7-under-par 65 to consolidate his lead after the second round of the Abu Dhabi Classic golf tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

Kaymer, last year's European PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, had eight birdies and one bogey in his second round Friday. He is 13-under-par, 131 at the halfway point, six strokes ahead of Sweden's Henrik Stenson. The Swede fired a 2-under-par 70 in his second round.

England's Steve Webster is tied with Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano of Spain for third place at 6-under-par (138). Both players had 4-under-par 68s in the second round.

World No. 8 player Adam Scott of Australia, the highest ranked golfer in the tournament, saw his chances fade when he shot a 2-over-par 74 and fell into a tie for 18th at two-under-par (142).

Defending champion Paul Casey of England had another tough day on the Abu Dhabi Golf Club course, shooting an even-par 72 and missing the cut at 3-over-par 147.
