Officials from two of the world's key emerging economies praised a proposed deal on liberalizing trade, boosting chances that World Trade Organization talks in Hong Kong will not collapse as feared.
Brazil and India are both upbeat about a proposed deal to push free trade goals forward, as WTO talks enter their final hours in Hong Kong.
Indian Trade Minister Kamal Nath says he is confident WTO members will back the agreement.
"India welcomes the final revised draft, and we look forward to it being accepted shortly," Mr. Nath says.
Brazilian Trade Minister Celso Amorim praised the European Union for agreeing to fix 2013 as a deadline for ending export subsidies in farm products. He says the move adds credibility to the negotiations, although he wanted the date to be three years earlier.
Brazil and India also say the proposed deal also creates opportunities for the world's poorest countries to export their goods more easily to developed nations.
The United States and the European Union are still discussing the measure.
