The Iranian parliament has voted to bar international inspectors from Iran's nuclear facilities, if the International Atomic Energy Agency refers Tehran's nuclear program to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions.
The bill passed Sunday in a televised vote also directs engineers to restart Iran's controversial nuclear enrichment program if the IAEA referral occurs.
The United States and Europe have accused Iran of seeking highly enriched, weapons-grade uranium to build an atomic weapon. But Tehran says its nuclear program is aimed at developing electricity.
The 35-member IAEA board meets Thursday to consider further action on the U.S.-European push to refer Iran to the Security Council.
Last week, the IAEA said Iran has had detailed designs since 1987 for what could be the metal core of an atomic bomb.
