Europeans Call Emergency UN Meeting on Iran's Nuclear Plans

European diplomats have called an emergency meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to warn Iran against re-starting its suspect nuclear fuel program.

Diplomats say the meeting, tentatively set for Tuesday, is aimed at countering an Iranian announcement that it will resume uranium conversion operations at a key nuclear facility by early next week.  The new week in Iran starts on Saturday.

Western governments suspect Iran's nuclear activities are aimed at developing atomic weaponry.  Iran insists its nuclear intentions are peaceful.

Earlier this week, France said Tehran could trigger an international crisis if it did not reverse its decision to re-start its nuclear program.

Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin said Iran would be referred to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions, if its breaks its moratorium on nuclear activities.
